Crypto Prop Firm Payout to Your Bank: Every Firm's Rail

Updated · 3 min read

Every crypto prop firm payout ends with the same three steps: get the payout to a wallet or exchange on the right network, convert to dollars, and cash out to your bank. The cost and speed depend almost entirely on the network the firm pays on. USDC on Base or Arbitrum costs cents to move. USDC or USDT on Ethereum mainnet can cost dollars. Firms that pay by bank or Rise skip crypto entirely. Match the network, keep the stablecoin as-is, and cash out by ACH for $0.

  • Check your firm's payout rail before you pass: token (USDC/USDT) and network decide your costs.
  • Base and Arbitrum payouts are the cheapest to move; Ethereum mainnet is the priciest.
  • USDT usually needs a conversion to USD on the exchange. USDC converts 1:1 free on Coinbase.
  • Some firms pay by bank, Wise or Rise, so there's no on-chain step.
  • Always generate the exchange deposit address on the same network the firm pays on.

If a firm lets you choose the network (Upscale, Klein), pick the cheapest one your exchange accepts, usually Base or Arbitrum, and generate the deposit address on that exact network.

Record-keeping for taxes

  • Save each payout's transaction ID (Vest shows it in Transfers; on-chain firms link to the block explorer).
  • Export your exchange's cash-out history at year end.
  • Payouts are typically treated as income, not trading gains. Prop firms generally don't withhold tax. Talk to a tax professional.

Frequently asked questions

Which prop firm pays out the cheapest way to a bank?

Firms paying USDC on Base or Arbitrum (e.g. Vest, Carrot, Hypernova) are the cheapest to move on-chain. Firms paying by bank or Rise skip crypto fees entirely.

Is USDT or USDC better for getting paid?

USDC is usually easier in the US: Coinbase converts it to USD 1:1 for free. USDT has to be sold on an exchange, which can add a fee or spread.

What if I sent my payout on the wrong network?

Contact the receiving exchange's support immediately. Some exchanges can recover funds sent on unsupported networks for a fee (Coinbase charges network fees plus 5% on value over $100), but recovery isn't guaranteed.
