Daily drawdown calculator
How much more can I lose before my daily drawdown limit?
Subtract your daily breach threshold from current equity to find your remaining loss buffer. Match the reset baseline to your account rules.
Illustrative inputs. Match the baseline and loss allowance to your account rules.
Remaining daily loss buffer
$250.00
- Equity breach threshold
- $9,500.00
- Daily loss allowance
- $500.00
Equity must remain above $9,500.00 in this model. This is a current snapshot; recovering above a threshold does not undo an earlier breach.
Current equity includes open P&L and charged fees/funding. If your percentage uses initial account size instead of the reset baseline, calculate that dollar allowance and select fixed dollars.
Example: $10,000 baseline, 5% daily limit
A $10,000 reset baseline gives a $500 loss allowance. The threshold is $9,500. At $9,750 current equity, the remaining buffer is $250. At $9,500, this model marks the limit as touched.
Threshold = reset baseline − loss allowance. Buffer = current equity − threshold. If reset equity was $10,300 rather than a $10,000 balance, a 5% equity-based allowance is $515 and the threshold is $9,785. Enter the baseline your rule actually uses.
Daily drawdown questions
Do open trades count?
This calculator checks current equity, including unrealized P&L. Include any fees and funding already charged. Balance at reset and live equity are different inputs even when the firm uses a balance-based baseline.
When does my daily limit reset?
Use the reset time and timezone in your plan rules. This tool does not assume midnight, track a reset clock or automatically roll the baseline forward.
Is a positive buffer proof my account is safe?
No. It describes the inputs now. An earlier threshold touch may already have breached the account. Separate overall drawdown and other trading rules still apply.
What if the percentage uses initial account size?
Choose fixed dollars and enter the allowance calculated from that initial size. Percentage mode here specifically uses the selected reset baseline. Firms may use other formulas or different touch/breach rules.
