Perps funding-cost calculator
How much funding will I pay or receive on my perps position?
Estimate funding paid or received from position notional, signed funding rate and holding time. All inputs are editable; defaults are illustrative.
Estimated funding paid
$24.00
Funding reduces your trading P&L by this amount.
- Per interval (paid)
- $1.00
- Equivalent intervals
- 24
Constant rate and notional; partial intervals are prorated. Actual settlement depends on the venue and whether your position is open at its funding timestamps. Excludes trading fees, price changes and fixed prop-firm swaps.
How the calculation works
Notional × rate per interval × equivalent intervals
A $10,000 long with +0.01% hourly funding pays an estimated $1 per hour, or $24 over 24 hours if rate and size stay constant. A short receives $24 under the same assumptions.
Common questions
Who pays when the rate is negative?
Under the standard signed funding convention, positive funding means longs pay shorts. Negative funding reverses that: shorts pay longs. Select direction and enter the signed rate as shown by your venue.
Does leverage multiply funding?
Funding is calculated on position notional, not margin. If notional stays fixed, changing leverage does not change this estimate. Increasing notional increases funding proportionally.
Is this live funding data?
No. The rate is manually entered and assumed constant. This is an accrued estimate, not a funding history or a forecast. Fractional intervals are prorated; venues that settle at specific times can charge a different amount.
What about prop-firm swap charges?
Some firms replace exchange funding with fixed swaps or other charges. Those may have different payer rules and schedules. This tool models signed exchange funding only; trading fees are excluded.
